Dr. Liz spoke to the power of the open-ended academic project as the catalyst for fostering intellectual growth and confidence in high school students. She highlighted how the program's blend of challenging academic work, mentorship from professors, and a supportive community helps students explore their own research questions for the first time in their education. These students step on college campuses having already practiced uncertainty while in high school and use the campus resources to continue their intellectual explorations.
